Nokia 8.3 5G full specification, review, price

Despite the MWC's in-person withdrawal, Nokia and HMD presented one of their most important mobiles of the year: the Nokia 8.3 5G, the first of the brand to incorporate such connectivity. And now, months after that announcement, it is finally available for purchase in the U.S and other markets.

It is a mid-range mobile that integrates the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 processor, which provides support for 5G connectivity by integrating the necessary modem. In its design, the prominent rear camera module draws attention, which, as we have traditionally seen in this brand, has the ZEISS touch in its optics.

The blue for the flag in a module that is already less striking

The Nokia  8.3 5G sports a blue back with a gloss finish and with what seem like reflections of various shades, although that module that stood out so much at its launch now, after months, is not far from what we have seen in other mobiles with triple and quadruple cameras. It is aligned to the center and is circular, like the POCO X3 NFC or the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 4G, seeing, in this case, the hole for the front camera in the left corner of the screen.

Speaking of the screen, it is a 6.81-inch panel with FHD + resolution (1,080 x 2,400 pixels), with an aspect ratio of 20: 9. It does not integrate the fingerprint reader, which is on one side. And beware, 220 grams of weight, which is not little.

5G and ZEISS optics

As we said in the introduction, perhaps one of the most important parts of this mid-range mobile is the Snapdragon 765 since it gives the Nokia 8.3 the title of being the first 5G mobile of the brand. As for the memories, there is an option of 6 and 8 GB of RAM for 128 GB of local storage, with the option of expanding it up to 400 GB by means of a microSD card.

That weight of 220 grams that we mentioned is also partly due to a 4,500 mAh battery, although as mobile phones are accommodated on large screens and volumes, figures close to 5,000 mAh are becoming more frequent. The fast charge is 18 W and has an audio minijack.

As for photography, the Nokia 8.3 5G has a total of four rear cameras with these ZEISS optics, being:

  • Main camera with 64-megapixel sensor and pixel binning (16-megapixel photos).

  • Super wide-angle camera with a 12-megapixel sensor.

  • Macro camera with a 2-megapixel sensor.

  • Depth with a 2-megapixel sensor.

  • Front camera: 24-megapixel sensor.

The Nokia 8.3 5G can record up to 4K and having native HDR. In addition, they have also added an action camera mode, promising to be able to take shots in demanding situations.
