Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra vs iPhone 12 Pro Max

If you want the best big-screen phones, great battery life, and everything in between, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and currently available Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max are at the top of everyone's list.

Now that the first big leaks on the Galaxy S21 Ultra have given us a clear view of what Samsung's next flagship will look like, it's time to compare it to what the iPhone 12 Pro Max brings. in the table.

Screen

With a fast refresh rate of 120Hz, the Galaxy has smoother movements,… but it may require a resolution of 1080p, so the iPhone can look a bit sharper

The Galaxy S21 Ultra is available with a slightly larger screen, but the 0.1 "difference is barely noticeable and these two are clearly pushing the limits of the large screen you can get on a non-foldable phone.

The iPhone also has the notch that houses its complex Face ID sensors, while the Galaxy S21 has a much more discreet front-hole camera. The notch isn't in the way for occasional use, but it does show up when watching videos and particularly when playing games, so it's a trade-off.

The Galaxy also has two other advantages: It has a resolution for sharper details that are noticeable if you are reading text (although you have to change it manually). More importantly, it also comes with support for a dynamic fast 120Hz refresh rate, making scrolling and simple interface navigation faster and smoother than iPhone.

Performance

The Galaxy S21 Ultra is rumored to be the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip (in the US at least, international units may come with a Samsung Exynos processor instead), while the iPhone 12 Pro Max uses the chip. Apple A14 Bionic.

Both are based on the most advanced technology: they use 5nm throughput and block benchmarks.

In terms of storage space, the base model Galaxy S21 Ultra is said to have 128GB of onboard storage, which corresponds to the iPhone 12 Pro Max. However, the Galaxy is expected to keep that microSD card slot that allows for an easy way to expand storage, and this is an option that the iPhone lacks.

Both phones will be available from all three major US carriers and will support 5G connectivity to all tastes, including the whimsical but fast mmWave technology.

Camera

Two telephoto zoom lenses in the galaxy might make it the most versatile zoom camera, but only the iPhone has a LiDAR sensor for AR if that's your thing.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra offers a beautifully styled camera system that feels like it belongs in the phone's frame, while the iPhone features that recognizable induction design for cameras. Both are beautiful in their own way, but they have also raised beds for the camera, so if you use the phone without a case, they are the reason that both phones will wobble.

What about the specs of the camera? The Galaxy has the advantage with two telephoto lenses, it retains the periscope lens but also adds a secondary 3X zoom short-range zoom lens. This means that it is absolutely the best phone for when you need to have a clear image of something far away.

Regarding image quality, we reserve judgment until we can test both phones side by side.

Battery life and charging speed

  • 3,687mAh (iPhone 12 Pro Max) vs 5,000mAh (Galaxy S21 Ultra)

  •   Faster charging on Galaxy

Finally, these two will also differ in battery size. Android phones like the Universe S21 Ultra consistently accompany bigger batteries than iPhones, and the S21 Ultra is no exemption. It is expected to have a 5,000 mAh battery, compared to the iPhone's 3,687 mAh battery. This means that the Galaxy has almost 50% more battery capacity than the iPhone!

Don't expect this to be directly related to the 50% improvement in battery life, but we do expect the Galaxy to outperform the iPhone in the battery life department.

For charging, the iPhone 12 Genius Max underpins rates of up to 20W, while the Cosmic system S21 Ultra is relied upon to help 25W charging. The iPhone was additionally the principal standard telephone available to transport without a charger, and the S21 Ultra may be the first major Android phone to follow this nefarious move, according to the leaks. Expect to have to buy a separate charger for these two premium phones.

Prices

Last but not least, let's talk about pricing. The leaks note that market conditions forced Samsung to lower the prices of its flagship phones in 2021. In 2020, Samsung launched its flagship S20 Ultra at an exorbitant price tag of $ 1,400, while this year's Galaxy S21 Ultra could start at roughly the same price as the $ 1,100 iPhone.

  • Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G - $ 1,250 to $ 1,299 for the 128GB model

  •  $ 1,100 for the 128GB model  Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max
